Nearly sixty years ago I had a beautiful voice and was asked to sing before a Jewish audience. I chose to sing a song about ‘on the shores of Lake Kinneret’ , not knowing exactly where it was and what was there.
When I finally made aliyah I lived in the centre of the country and at the age of 42 decided to move to Kibbutz Kinneret.
I have worked more than 26 years in Yardenit, the baptismal site on the Jordan River. I feel privileged that I have chosen such a beautiful place to work.
The peace and tranquility that one feels either on the shores of the lake or standing on the banks of the Jordan River is second to none.
Being here on a daily basis one tends to take for granted the scenery but when I make a trip away from Kinneret and I approach the view of the Lake, I am astounded by the fantastic scenery which approaches me.
Living in this land land, the bible comes to life and I feel we are living a history of 2000 years.
