Yardenit, the baptismal site on the Jordan River ,reflects the perfect combination of Christian heritage, stunning landscapes of the Holy Land and a history of civilization. Kibbutz Kinneret which runs the Yardenit site was founded in 1913 by eastern European immigrants and is the second oldest kibbutz in Israel.

Kibbutz Kinneret with the help and blessing of the Ministry of Tourism, have built a unique visitors center of natural  limestone in the shape of a nave of a church overlooking the banks of the Jordan River. The main building consists of a gift shop with unique religious items, including holy water from the actual site and foodstuff eaten during biblical times and a restaurant which serves amongst other delicacies St Peter's fish.At the gift shop one is able to either rent or buy
white baptismal robes and towels.

South of the baptismal site there is also a eucalyptus grove where private prayer meetings may be conducted.

Although entrance to the baptismal site is free, if one is being baptized, you are required to wear a baptismal robe. The cost of renting a baptismal robe which includes a towel, entrance to the change facility and a  baptismal certificate is $10. Swim suits may be worn under the baptismal robe. There are spacious change facilities with showers, toilets and change rooms and one is required to change in the change facility available for your convenience. There are numerous baptismal pools and one of our representatives will help you find an open baptismal pool. Should you require a priest to assist you with the baptism, we at Yardenit are often able to locate one for your convenience. We suggest you inform us a few days before with a date and time and we usually can oblige. You can either email us or phone us with the request. This service is also free although we suggest that it would be a nice gesture if you make a small donation directly to the priest.

All pilgrims who are baptized at Yardenit and rent the robe receive a certificate free of charge. Those who rededicate their vows too receive a unique re-dedication certificate. Should one wish to purchase a certificate alone the price is $2  Comfortable and adequate facilities are available for religious ceremonies and private worship on the banks of the Jordan River. We also cater to handicapped with special places to park and and an inclinator down to one of the baptismal pools . The site is able to accommodate up to 1,000 people at once but is large enough to maintain a feeling of tranquility, harmony and spiritual renewal with certain private areas available. For this reason no swimming, fishing picnicking or boating is allowed.

At Yardenit it is important to be aware of the fact  that the water is kept pristine for baptism and the quality of the water is of the same high standard as the Sea of Galilee. The water is constantly checked by the Ministry of Health and it is safe to immerse oneself  at this location in the southern Jordan River

Yardenit welcomes you to an enjoyable and unforgettable experience and we are sure it will be one of the highlights of your trip to the Holy Land.
