Significant alterations of the site have taken place at the turn of the Millenium.
A new and enlarged Visitors Center, built of natural stone, has been opened.
It has a wooden ceiling, huge pillars in the shape of a cross, a canal with water
from the Jordan River and windows overlooking the river, designed with
motifs taken from an ancient basilica.
The Souvenir shop within the Visitors Center is designed in the form of a bazaar
in a Galilean style typical of the time of Jesus. It sells numerous holy items and
rents robes and towels to the visitors, who take home a Baptism or a
Rededication certificate.
The eating hall, which adjoins the shop, overlooks the Jordan River and serves
either the three-four buffet lunch or the traditional well-known St. Peter's
fish table lunch.

For your convenience all prices quoted in the gift shop are both in American
dollars and Israeli shekels. However most foreign currencies are accepted.
The shop is tax-free, which means that persons spending the acquired amount
of $ 100 or more are entitled to receiving back the tax which is payable on
exit from Israel.

Yardenit includes now several Baptismal sites that can accommodate for
Baptism small groups as well as up to 1000 people at a time. It also includes
one the most modern rest-rooms in Israel, consisting of toilets, showers
and dressing room facilities. It also has special facilities for the handicapped
including a lift which enables them to reach the site.

Visitors coming to Yardenit will find an impressively spacious free parking lot.

Kibbutz Kinneret which runs the site was founded in 1913 by East European
immigrants of the first Aliya. It is the second oldest Kibbutz in Israel.
The Biblical Date honey and Date spread, available at the gift shop, are unique
specialties produced by Kibbutz Kinneret.

The restaurant with large windows overlooking the Jordan River has the capacity
to seat 300 people comfortably.
Built in the style inspired by early Christian architecture, features a wide selection
of food, including the popular St. Peters fish, Salad Bar, as well as a variety of
Israeli cuisine at attractive prices
