Transfiguration of the Lord
Transfiguration of the Lord is one of the most venerated events in Christianity. This Feast is celebrated by most Christian congregations on different dates in August.
This holiday is dedicated to the memory of the miracle of the Transfiguration of Jesus to the disciples on Mount Tabor in the Galilee, not long before His Crucifixion.
The Transfiguration of Jesus is one of the most sacred miracles in Christian religion. Jesus was seen on the Mount Tabor illuminating unearthly, divine light; He spoke with Moses and Elijah, both of whom were at His side; and He was proclaimed God’s Son. : “And his face did shine as the sun; and his garments became white as snow” (Matthew 16:21.)
Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord carries a sense of spiritual transformation of a man that was performed by Jesus Christ. Prayer, repentance and spiritual perfection should be the main thoughts in that day for everyone. Through sincere repentance, confession and the sacrament of Holy Communion, one is purified of sins and spiritually transformed.
There is a vigil service in the Greek Orthodox Church that occurs on this Feast. This is the most remarkable experience of the Transfiguration Feast. Many pilgrims are climbing up the Mount Tabor to follow the steps of Jesus.
